An Audio Synthesis Textbook For Musicians, Digital Artists and Programmers by Mike Krzyzaniak
1 Basic Waveforms
Explanation of the Concepts
This chapter contains a discussion of the most common oscillators found on analog synthesizers. They are repetitious, and are therefore suitable for use as audio signals, but they are also useful for other applications, such as triggering events and controlling various parameters of an audio or other signal. Here, the discussion will focus on their use as audio-signals, but subsequent chapters will explore other uses.
Each of the oscillators in this chapter has simple, basic physical properties which will be discussed further in the 'Digital Sounds/Additive Synthesis/Waveforms Revisited' chapter of this book.
